The Fayette County Circuit Court Clerk maintains the records of the Circuit Court and, in counties Fayette's size, typically also the General Sessions Court. Duties include docketing and indexing cases, authenticating court orders and judgments, collecting court costs and fines, administering oaths to witnesses and jurors, and managing the clerk's office. Fayette is part of Tennessee's 25th Judicial District, which also includes Hardeman, Lauderdale, McNairy, and Tipton counties.
