Elected judicial office in Shelby County, Tennessee

(Nonpartisan) (Current Occupation): Sugarmon was elected as Juvenile Court Judge in August of 2022 and is responsible for the Administrative Services Division, the Court Services Division, and the Child Support Services Division. (Education): Sugarmon graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in Banking and Finance and shortly after, he attended Howard University School of Law graduating in 1983 and also passed the TN Bar Exam. He then became a part-time trial attorney with the Shelby County Public Defender’s Office and an Associate with the firm Wharton and Wharton. In 1992, Judge Sugarmon went on to become a partner with the firm of Noel and Sugarmon, and in 1998, Judge Sugarmon was appointed to Division 2 of the Memphis Municipal Court and has been re-elected 4 times since then.
