He is married to Lydia Furr and they have three daughters\u202f[13].\n\nDaniel first entered the North Carolina Senate in 2011, representing the 44th District until redistricting moved him to the 46th District in 2013, a seat he has held continuously (the Senate biography lists eight terms)\u202f[10][5][7]. Earlier sessions show his leadership on Finance, Redistricting, Transportation, and other key committees\u202f[1].\n\nDuring the 2025\u20112026 session Daniel introduced numerous bills, including SB\u202f18 (local act), SB\u202f50 (Freedom to Carry NC), SB\u202f227 (eliminating DEI in public education), and SB\u202f109 (Veterans Appreciation Act), reflecting his focus on public safety, veterans\u2019 issues, and education policy\u202f[6].
