Current office and 2026 campaign

Status update. Ferguson lost the March 3, 2026 Republican primary to then-incumbent Rep. Mike Clampitt (2,988 votes, 37.6%, to Clampitt's 4,508 votes, 56.7%, with Mike Yow placing third at 452 votes, 5.7%, of 7,948 total). Clampitt died in March 2026 following a battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of blood and bone marrow cancer. Governor Josh Stein appointed Ferguson to fill the vacant District 119 seat on April 16, 2026, from a list of nominees submitted by the district's Republican Party organization. She is now the sitting incumbent, unopposed for the Republican nomination, and faces Democrat Mark R. Burrows on the November 3, 2026 general-election ballot ⁴.
