2026
general

Joe David Caudle is a Republican candidate for the Davie County Board of Education in the 2026 general election. He previously appeared on the ballot for the same three‑seat board in the November 8, 2022 general election, having run in the May 17, 2022 Republican primary for the district[1].

Caudle is 50 years old and a lifelong Davie County resident. He graduated from Davie High School in 1989, then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993 and later in the North Carolina National Guard from 1995 to 2004. He completed a program at East Coast Polytechnic Institute in 1996[11].

For more than 26 years Caudle has worked in the fire‑and‑security industry, remaining with the same company throughout that period. His community involvement includes long‑term membership at Farmington Baptist Church (since 2005) and prior membership at Ijames Baptist Church (1994‑2005), as well as participation in the American Legion[11].

Caudle’s decision to seek office was driven by two primary concerns. First, he opposed what he described as forced mask mandates in schools, citing a public address he made before the Davie County School Board in September 2021 that he felt was ignored. Second, he expressed frustration with perceived disconnects between elected officials’ statements and actions, emphasizing a desire to bring a more “astute and informed” perspective to school governance[11].

During his 2022 campaign, Caudle identified several challenges for the district: low morale among teachers and staff, ineffective leadership, lack of accountability, and curriculum issues. He advocated for hiring local talent for school positions, increasing accountability, and addressing teacher morale. He also voiced opposition to critical race theory and called for a more balanced presentation of American history in classrooms[11].

Caudle can be contacted via email at joecaudleforschoolboard@gmail.com, as listed on his Ballotpedia profile[1]. He has promoted a campaign website at CaudleforDC.com, though the URL is referenced only in the local newspaper profile[11].
