Kathy Meyer Larson is a candidate for the Wayne County Board of Education, DistrictâŻ06, in the NovemberâŻ3,âŻ2026 election. The board is responsible for setting policy, overseeing the district budget, and guiding the superintendent for Wayne County Public Schools, making âbigâpicture policy decisions about our students and our schoolsâ as described on her campaign site [8].
Larson was raised in Wayne County, attending Carver Elementary, Carver Heights, Goldsboro Junior High, Goldsboro High School, and graduating from EasternâŻWayne High School in 1995. She earned a B.A. in Youth Ministry with minors in Business and Biblical Studies from Eastern Universityâs Templeton Honors College, and an M.A. in Old Testament (Leviticus concentration) from GordonâConwell Theological Seminary [9][12].
Professionally, Larson served as Director of Christian Education and Creative Arts at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Charlotte from 1999 to 2018. Since 2010 she has been an adjunct faculty member at Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary, teaching Old Testament, Youth Ministry, and Christian Education, and since 2011 she has written curriculum for megachurches through Docent Content Group [9][12].
Her community involvement centers on education. As President of the Spring Creek Elementary School PTA, she rebuilt the organization after COVIDâ19, raised funds for Chromebooks, laptops, playground equipment, signage, landscaping, and baseballâfield restoration, and organized events such as spirit nights, movie nights, a Fall Festival, and a talent show. She also advocated for a safer carârider line, worked with the county commissioners and the Department of Transportation on safety issues, and supported programs like Special Olympics, the Book Fair, and Battle of the Books [9][12].
Beyond the PTA, Larson is active with the Cub Scouts (Cubmaster & Den Leader) and the Spring Creek Youth Association, where she has led efforts to rebuild soccer, baseball, and tâball programs and raise funds for youth activities.
