Antwain Anthony Nance is a Democratic candidate for Mecklenburg County Sheriff in North Carolina. He ran in the March 3, 2026 Democratic primary against incumbent Sheriff Garry McFadden, Rodney Collins, and Ricky Robbins.
Nance has campaigned on accountability and constitutional leadership for the sheriff's office, jail reform based on his detention experience, zero tolerance for discrimination and abuse, improved response to domestic violence, and strengthening department leadership.
Career
Nance is a lifelong Mecklenburg County resident. He worked as a detention officer at the Mecklenburg County Jail from January 2014 to October 2015, where he observed firsthand the challenges within the criminal justice system. He subsequently transitioned to the aviation and logistics industry, starting in fleet service at American Airlines and advancing into logistics. He currently serves as a union leader and shop steward at American Airlines.
