Syble Vaughan Trent is the incumbent Hawkins County Commissioner for District 1 1 and the Republican Party nominee for re-election on the August 6, 2026 ballot 2.
Background and education
Trent holds a B.S.B.A. from Tusculum University and a degree from East Tennessee State University, and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee's Leadership Program and the County Officials Certified Training Program 3.
Career
Her prior career includes work at Eastman Chemical Company and Delta Airlines 3. She has also worked in real estate and court reporting, has been a small business owner and farm manager, has served as an adjunct faculty member at Mountain Empire Community College, and currently serves as a substitute instructor for the Hawkins County School System 3.
Legislative record and accomplishments
Trent has served or chaired multiple county-commission committees, including Budget, Public Safety, Industrial Board, Airport, Parks, Audit, Solid Waste, and Education 3. In 2020 she was named to the board of directors of the Tennessee County Commissioners Association 3.
