Current office and 2026 campaign

Mitchell "West" Caudle ran as a Democrat in the 2026 primary for North Carolina's 10th Congressional District. He competed in the March 3, 2026 Democratic primary.

Caudle's platform centered on defending and expanding Medicare, strengthening public education, and lowering taxes. His top priority was strengthening congressional accountability: overturning the Citizens United decision, banning congressional stock trading, and establishing a "cool-down" period before elected officials could enter lobbying roles.

Background and education

Caudle's family has farmed the same land in Yadkin County, North Carolina, for more than six generations. He graduated from Elkin High School, earned an associate degree from Surry Community College, and a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University.

Career

Caudle has worked as a police officer, sheriff's deputy, and middle school social studies teacher in Davidson County. He currently works for a technology company. He founded and runs BetterAngels, a nonprofit organization that assisted with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in western North Carolina in 2024.
