Jonathon Lee Cawley, known publicly as Jon Cawley, is the incumbent Mayor of Mount Airy, North Carolina, seeking re-election in the November 3, 2026 municipal election. He is being challenged by Bill Goins, a Surry County commissioner representing the Mount Airy district, who filed for mayor during the same filing period; Mount Airy's municipal races are non-partisan 12.

Office history

Cawley has served the city since 2008, when he was first elected North Ward city commissioner 3. He was elected mayor in November 2022, defeating incumbent Ron Niland 1,915 votes to 1,511 (about 55%-45%) in the general election, after having lost to Niland in the preceding May primary; he was sworn in December 1, 2022 23.
