Robert Jerol Kivett was a Republican candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives District 22, which covers Bladen and Sampson counties. He lost the March 3, 2026 Republican primary to Wellie Jackson, 2,109 votes (22.8%) to 7,155 votes (77.2%), and will not appear on the November 2026 general-election ballot 12.
Kivett is a lifelong Sampson County resident and graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, NC 3.
He is president and CEO of Kivett's Inc., a furniture business bearing his family name. He also served two terms on the Sampson County Board of Commissioners, holding the District 2 seat since 2016. He previously served as chairman of the Board, and under his leadership the county provided law enforcement more than $3.52 million in pay raises - the largest such increase in Sampson County history 3.
