Background and education
Hill was born in Charlotte, North Carolina 1. Per a 2018 newspaper profile, he has lived in Cabarrus County since 1962 and is a 1984 graduate of Central Cabarrus High School 4; his Ballotpedia biography likewise lists Central Cabarrus High School as his alma mater 1.
Career
Hill has worked for decades as a self-employed journeyman electrician. A 2018 newspaper profile put his experience at "over 26 years" at that time 4; per his 2024 Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey, he reported 42 years of experience and said he grew up working in his father's electrical construction company 1. In that same survey, Hill describes himself as the founder of "Healing Our America," which he calls "a grassroots libertarian service ministry" engaging in "voluntary acts of charity, community service, and goodwill in local communities" 1. Per the 2018 profile, he also volunteered as a youth basketball coach for 14 years through Cabarrus County Parks & Recreation and Philadelphia Presbyterian Church 4.
Office history
Hill ran unsuccessfully for a Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners seat in 2018 as an independent candidate, campaigning on opioid-crisis and cannabis-policy issues 4. He ran for North Carolina State Senate District 34 in 2024 as the Libertarian nominee, receiving 2.9% of the vote (3,171 votes) in a general election won by Republican incumbent Paul Newton (52.9%, 58,166 votes) over Democrat Kim Sexton-Lewter (44.2%, 48,558 votes) 12.
Legislative record and accomplishments
Hill has not held legislative office. Per his 2024 Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey, he has been a member of the Libertarian Party of North Carolina since 1998 and describes having held party leadership and outreach roles at the local, state, and national levels; he lists a 2012 Libertarian Party of Illinois Crispus Attucks Award for Libertarian Activist of the Year and a 2004 Libertarian Party of North Carolina Most Outspoken for Liberty Award among his political-activism honors 1.
