Current office and 2026 campaign

Cynthia "Cindy" Humphrey is the Democratic candidate for Washington County Commission District 13, on the ballot in the county's August 6, 2026 general election against Republican incumbent Kenneth "Kenny" Huffine 12. Her campaign, organized around three stated values — Honor, Service, and Community — emphasizes "leading with integrity, accountability, and respect for the Constitution" and says public service is "about providing real results for the people who rely on local government everyday" 1. Humphrey also serves as Treasurer of the Washington County Democratic Party 3.

Career

As of a 2023 Tennessee Department of Veterans Services conference biography, Humphrey served as Southeast Regional Coordinator for Army Survivor Outreach Services, overseeing 31 state coordinators across 12 states and Puerto Rico who care for more than 11,300 Army survivor families, and as G-1 Sergeant Major for the Tennessee Army National Guard in Nashville 4. She has served in both active duty and the National Guard for more than 31 years, holding prior roles in Military Funeral Honors, as a Casualty Assistance and Notification Officer, and as Tennessee State Coordinator for Army Survivor Outreach Services before her promotion to Regional Coordinator 4. She also serves as Vice President of the Tri-Cities Military Affairs Council and is involved with the Women Veterans of East TN group, and resides in Johnson City 4.
