Robert D. "Dan" Brummitt is the incumbent Vance County Commissioner for District 4, having served in the role for close to two decades as of a January 2025 public hearing 2. He filed for re-election as a Republican in the 2026 election, one of two Republicans -- alongside Kelley Wade Perdue -- who filed for the seat by the December 19, 2025 filing deadline 1. At a February 2026 Vance County Association of Educators candidate forum, Brummitt said the Vance County Board of Education "has realized it needs to cut expenses," citing the decision to close Carver and New Hope elementary schools, and noted Vance ranked 49 out of 100 statewide for teacher supplements in 2025 4.
