John J. Kirkpatrick IV is a Democratic candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives, District 55, on the November 3, 2026 general ballot. The Democratic primary for the seat was cancelled, and Kirkpatrick advanced without appearing on the primary ballot 1.
Kirkpatrick has served on the Union County Public Schools Board of Education, representing District 1. He was first appointed to the board on March 2, 2021, and his current term runs through 2028. He was elected to a full term in the 2022 special general election, defeating Republican Colleen Kamolnik with 51.7% of the vote, and was re‑elected unopposed in the 2024 general election, receiving 100% of the vote (8,941 votes) 1.
