Caleb Rance Stiles won the Republican primary for Graham County Sheriff on March 3, 2026, defeating five other candidates — Leon Allen, Cody George, Terry Grey, Joseph Jones, and Mitch Millsaps 12. He faces Democrat Reba Louanne Jenkins McMahan in the November 3, 2026 general election 23.
The race follows the permanent removal of former Sheriff Brad Hoxit, whom a Superior Court judge found had engaged in "willful misconduct and maladministration" in his investigation of a county commissioner with whom he had a personal conflict; Republican Russell Moody, a former sheriff (2007‑2011), was appointed to fill the vacancy in February 2026 pending the November election 3.
