David Jackson is the incumbent Marion County Mayor and the Democratic candidate for re-election on the August 6, 2026 county general ballot 12. He was the only candidate on the May 5, 2026 Democratic mayoral primary ballot 3. He faces Republican Travis Layne and independents Tim Brooks, Daniel Carter, Patrick Childs and Benjamin Shankles 1.
Office history
Jackson has served as Marion County Mayor since 2014 45. Before becoming county mayor, he held municipal office in the town of Kimball: he was appointed alderman in 1990, later served as vice mayor, and became mayor of Kimball in 2003, holding that post until 2014 5.
Career
Jackson worked at Lodge Manufacturing for more than 34 years, the last 20 in a supervisory role 5.
Background and education
A lifelong Marion County resident, Jackson was born and raised in Kimball and graduated from Marion County High School in 1979 5.
