{"biography":"Timothy John Reeder is the incumbent Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for District\u202f9 and is on the ballot for re\u2011election in the November\u202f3,\u202f2026 general election [1][3].  He began his first term on January\u202f1,\u202f2023 and was re\u2011elected in 2024, serving as House Deputy Majority Whip for the 2025\u20112026 session [10].  The North Carolina Constitution requires state representatives to be qualified voters, at least 21\u202fyears old, and to have resided in the district for one year before election; terms are two years with no term limits [3].\n\nReeder was born in 1969 in Columbus, Ohio, and earned a B.A. (1991) and M.D. (1995) from Ohio State University before moving to North Carolina in 1998.  He completed a Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 [12][14].  He practices emergency medicine at East Carolina University\u2019s Brody School of Medicine and has served as chief of medical staff at Vidant Medical Center; he was president of the North Carolina Medical Society in 2019 [12][14].\n\nBefore entering politics, Reeder worked as a physician and health\u2011care administrator.  He announced his candidacy for the 9th House district in December\u202f2021, won the Republican primary in May\u202f2022, and defeated Democratic incumbent Brian\u202fFarkas in the November\u202f2022 election, becoming the first Republican to hold the seat in a decade [12].  He was re\u2011elected in 2024, defeating Democrat Claire\u202fKempner with 55.9\u202f% of the vote [1].\n\nIn the 2023\u20112024 legislative session Reeder served on the Appropriations Committee, the House Appropriations on Health and Human Services Committee, the Commerce Committee, the Education\u2011Universities Committee, the Families, Children, and Aging Policy Committee, and the Health Committee [1].  During the 2025\u20112026 session he introduced a range of bills, including measures on emergency\u2011room security, veterans\u2019 benefits, Medicaid dental rates, health\u2011care workforce reforms, and a proposal to limit insurance\u2011company oversight of physician decisions (HB\u202f67, HB\u202f60, HB\u202f49, among others) [11].  He also sponsored legislation on election administration, sports\u2011event fees, and a \u201cSecond Amendment Financial Privacy Act\u201d [11].\n\nReeder\u2019s public positions include opposition to abortion after twelve weeks, support for limiting transgender health\u2011care for minors, and advocacy for law\u2011enforcement presence in hospital emergency departments to protect health\u2011care workers [12].  He has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association and other conservative groups, and he is active in community organizations such as the Crossroads Community Center homeless shelter and St.\u202fGabriel Church [14].\n\nDistrict\u202f9 covers parts of Pitt County, including the city of Greenville.  Reeder is a resident of Ayden, NC, and maintains a legislative office at 300\u202fN.
