Current office and 2026 campaign

Wiley Potter is a Republican member of the Cumberland County Commission representing the 1st District, which elects two commissioners 12. In the May 5, 2026 county primary he advanced to the August 6 general election with about 47 percent of the vote, alongside fellow Republican Sue Ann York (about 52 percent) 3.

Career

Potter worked for many years as a deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. He later served as an animal control officer for the county and for several years as animal control officer for the city of Crossville before retiring 1.

Office history

When the 1st District commission seat became vacant in 2024, Potter was the only person to submit his name for consideration for the ballot, and he took the seat effective September 1, 2024 1.
