Victoria Burgess Sawyer

Victoria "Vickie" Burgess Sawyer is the incumbent Republican state senator for North Carolina’s 37th Senate district, which includes Iredell and Mecklenburg counties, and she is on the ballot for re‑election in the November 3, 2026 general election ²⁸.

Sawyer earned a bachelor’s degree in special education and teaching from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997, graduating from Parkland High School in Winston‑Salem beforehand ²⁹. She and her husband, Brett, have owned and operated Sawyer Insurance & Financial Services in Mooresville since 2002, where she works as a licensed insurance agent ²⁹.

Her political career began with local party work, serving as treasurer of the Iredell County Republican Party and as a member of the Iredell County Planning Board. She also sits on the board of trustees for Rocky Mount United Methodist Church and is a board member of the Crosby Scholars of Iredell County, reflecting deep community involvement ²⁹.
