Sean C. Ewing is the Democratic candidate for one of two Alamance County Board of Commissioners seats on the November 3, 2026 general-election ballot 4.
Ewing was born in Elyria, Ohio 4. He entered the United States Air Force in 1999 and served as an F-16 avionics craftsman on active duty until 2005, then in the Air National Guard until 2014 41. He earned an Associate of Science in Avionics Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ohio State University in 2011 1.
Since 2014, Ewing has worked as an electrical hardware engineer for Volvo Group Trucks in Greensboro 1. He was elected to the nonpartisan Mebane City Council in 2019 and is serving his second term, which runs through 2027 14. He holds civic and veteran leadership roles including Senior Vice Commander of VFW Post 1920, Service Officer of American Legion Post 95, and membership in the Alamance NAACP and the Mebane Downtown Vision Steering Committee 1.
Ewing's campaign site credits him with bringing a Development Grant program to historic downtown Mebane and helping attract new jobs from UPS and Lotus Bakeries during his time on the council 2.
In 2022, Ewing ran as the Democratic nominee against incumbent Republican state senator Amy Galey for North Carolina Senate District 25, an unsuccessful bid 4. Down Home North Carolina's 2022 endorsement of his campaign described his platform as supporting "fully funding education equitably for all children and communities, bringing good jobs and economic opportunities to areas that have often been overlooked, expanding Medicaid, and standing up for our environment and clean energy investments to protect our beautiful state" 3.
