Morris "Mac" McAdoo is the Democratic candidate for Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners District 1 in the 2026 general election. He won the three‑person Democratic primary on March 3, 2026 with 49.4% of the vote (8,558 votes) and will face Republican Aaron Marin on November 3, 2026 ¹.

McAdoo earned a B.A. in business administration from North Carolina Central University and a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 2005 ¹. He began his legal career as a benefits administrator for several accounting firms, then served as a prosecutor in Forsyth County, where he focused on cases involving special‑needs victims. He later practiced with a nonprofit civil‑rights firm advocating for persons with disabilities ¹. In 2018 he founded the McAdoo Law Group in uptown Charlotte, handling civil litigation, property law, estate planning, and nursing‑home abuse prosecutions ¹⁰⁸.

Beyond his law practice, McAdoo has held numerous leadership roles in the legal and civic community: founding chair of the PSF Foundation, past board member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, past chairman of the John S. Leary Bar Association of Black Attorneys, past board member of Charlotte’s Privatization/Competition Advisory Committee, past vice‑chairman of the Local Advisory Council for NC Legal Aid, former 2nd vice‑chairman of the Black Political Caucus, and past board member of the North Carolina Association of Black Attorneys. McAdoo’s campaign platform emphasizes "people‑first" county budgeting, housing affordability, preserving neighborhood character amid growth, public safety, and strengthening health and human services.
