{"biography":"Gregory Brooks Drumwright is a Democratic candidate for the Guilford County Board of Commissioners At\u2011Large in the 2026 election.  The Board of Commissioners serves as the chief governing body for Guilford County, setting policy, approving the budget, overseeing county services such as public safety, health, and infrastructure, and representing the interests of all county residents.  Drumwright is campaigning on a platform that includes safe schools and communities, increased teacher pay, rural health\u2011care initiatives, expanded mental\u2011health support, and a community\u2011wide \u201cLet\u2019s Grow Guilford Together\u201d vision [7].\n\nDrumwright earned a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina A&T State University and a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University, and he is currently pursuing doctoral studies [12].  He serves as senior pastor of The Citadel Church & Campus Ministries in Greensboro, where he has built a congregation that attracts large millennial audiences.  In addition to his pastoral duties, he is a professor of Public Speaking and Human Communication and the Senior Principal Consultant for Leadership Enhancement and Academic Development (L.E.A.D.) [12].\n\nHis public\u2011service record includes appointment by Governor Roy Cooper to the North Carolina Courts Commission as the sole at\u2011large, non\u2011lawyer member, a role in which he has contributed to criminal\u2011justice reform and under\u2011age vaping legislation [12].  He was also honored with the Old North State Award for more than two decades of community service, and he has received numerous recognitions such as the Lawyers\u2019 Committee for Civil Rights\u2019 Frank R. Parker Award and Black Business Ink\u2019s Top\u202f40 Under\u202f40 list [12].\n\nDrumwright is a nationally recognized activist.  He founded the Justice\u202f4\u202fthe\u202fNext\u202fGeneration movement, has appeared on CNN, ABC, FOX, NBC, and in publications including Forbes, The New\u202fYork\u202fTimes, The Washington Post, and Bloomberg.  In 2022 he was featured in the Netflix documentary \u201cCivil\u201d for his work with attorney Ben\u202fCrump supporting the family of George\u202fFloyd during the trial [7][12].  He has also organized community initiatives such as \u201cKicks\u202f4\u202fOur\u202fKids,\u201d which donated over 500 pairs of shoes to underserved students in Guilford County [7].\n\nIn 2020 Drumwright was arrested during a Halloween\u2011day march in Graham, leading to felony obstruction\u2011of\u2011justice and assault\u2011on\u2011officer charges; both felonies were later dismissed, with one dismissed by the court and the other resulting in a grand jury \u201cno true bill\u201d [11].  The incident underscores his long\u2011standing involvement in civil\u2011rights protests.\n\nPreviously, Drumwright ran for the Guilford County Board of Education\u2019s District\u202f2 seat in 2018, demonstrating his ongoing interest in local governance [8].
