CHRIS BROWN

CHRIS BROWN

Office history

Sheriff — TN
2026
general

Editorial note — same-name confusion. Web searches for "Chris Brown" overwhelmingly surface the R&B singer, and separately turn up unrelated sheriffs and deputies of the same name in other states (including an elected sheriff in Cleburne County, Arkansas). None of those are the candidate profiled here. This Chris Brown is a Cannon County, Tennessee law-enforcement officer and 2026 sheriff candidate based in Woodbury, Tennessee 12.

Current office and 2026 campaign

Chris Brown is a candidate for Cannon County Sheriff on the August 6, 2026 county general election ballot, running against Bill Sharp for the seat being vacated by retiring Sheriff Darrell Young 12. In a mid-2025 announcement of his own retirement after 15 years in office, Young said he was "offering his endorsement to deputy Chris Brown to succeed him," identifying Brown as a Cannon County Sheriff's Office deputy 2. As of a January 2026 local candidate tracker, Brown's qualifying petition had been submitted and returned pending law-enforcement certification (POST); unlike Sharp, who is listed with a Republican designation, the same tracker showed no party affiliation next to Brown's name 1.
