Current office and 2026 campaign

Roderick G. Davis currently serves as a District Court Judge for Mecklenburg County, North Carolina ¹. He was elected to this position in November 2022 and took office in January 2023, and is seeking re-election in the 2026 election cycle ².

Background and education

Davis is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1991, then worked for several years as an accountant and auditor in the Washington, D.C. area, performing financial statement audits for federal, state, and local governments. He earned a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2002, where he served as first-year class president and later vice president of the Black Law Students Association ³.

Career

After law school, Davis worked for three years as an assistant public defender in Durham, North Carolina ³. He went on to practice law in Mecklenburg County for more than 17 years before his 2022 election, operating The Law Offices of Roderick G. Davis, PLLC, in Charlotte, with a practice focused on criminal defense, personal injury, civil litigation, and small business law ²³⁴. He is admitted to the North Carolina State Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association ³.
