Powell has owned and operated Powell Septic Tank Service for 22 years. He and his wife, Lisa, are co-owners of Apple City Broadcasting, which operates local radio stations WACB and WTLK in the Taylorsville area 1.
After volunteering with Finding Hope Global Ministries, a $1.5 million 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Powell was elected chairman of its board of directors and served in that role for eight years before recently stepping down. He and Lisa are members of East Taylorsville Baptist Church, where Powell has served on the Budget & Finance Committee and the Building & Grounds Committee, and he currently serves on the executive committee of the Alexander County Republican Party 1.
