Salette Ann Andrews is a Democratic candidate for the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners in the 2026 elections ¹. Background and education

Andrews earned a Master's degree in Technical Communication Management from Mercer University School of Engineering ². She was born to a first-generation American mother and a military father who passed away at age 43, leaving her and four siblings ⁴. Her family's military background led her to live in ten different states ⁴.

Career

Andrews served as an air traffic controller in the United States Air Force ⁴. After her military service, she worked as a technical writer and editor ⁴. She also owns a small business selling estate jewelry ⁴. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she served on the town council in Oro Valley, Arizona in 2008 ². She was subsequently elected to the Wilmington City Council and was appointed to the National League of Cities 2026 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Federal Advocacy Committee ⁵.

Andrews is married to David Andrews and has three grown children and four grandchildren ⁴.
