Current office and 2026 campaign

Shane Eaton is a Lawrence County Commissioner representing District 16, which includes part of the City of Lawrenceburg ¹. He is running as an Independent candidate for Lawrence County Executive in the August 6, 2026 county general election, challenging incumbent Republican David Morgan (who faces a Republican primary contest against Phillip J. Heatherly) ². His campaign describes his platform as "faith, family, and future" and frames his approach as "putting Lawrence County First," stating: "Growth done right means more opportunity for our families, stronger schools, better infrastructure, and a brighter future for every citizen-without sacrificing the values that define us" ³.

Background and education

Eaton served in the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school ¹. He holds a B.S. in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University (Magna Cum Laude) and an M.B.A. in Public Administration, has earned the Chief Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence - a credential the county's biography notes is held by roughly 1,750 people worldwide - and holds a Certified Public Administrator designation from the University of Tennessee's County Technical Assistance Service ¹. He and his family have lived in Lawrence County more than 46 years ¹.

Career

Eaton works at the Lawrenceburg Fire Department as Administrative Assistant Chief ¹. He has volunteered as a firefighter and as a shooting-team coach for Lawrence County High School, and has served as a Chamber Ambassador for the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce ¹.

Office history

Eaton represents District 16 on the Lawrence County Commission and serves on its Animal Welfare, Human Resource, Solid Waste, and Emergency Services committees ¹. He also sits on the Tennessee County Commissioners Association's Veterans Affairs Committee and Lawrence County's Selective Service Board ¹.

Family

Eaton and his wife, Mechelle, have been married 29 years and have two adult children, Brittany and Derek; Derek and his wife, Kelbie, have a son, Nixon ¹.
