David Earl Hawks is one of two Weakley County commissioners representing District 7 and is a candidate on the August 6, 2026 county general ballot 1.
Background
Hawks was born June 2, 1951, the son of Dayne and Monema Hawks 1.
Career
Hawks worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company from November 1972 to June 2006, retiring after 33.5 years as an industrial supervisor; earlier he worked at Reelfoot Packing Company 1. He serves as a TSSAA referee and has long coached and umpired youth baseball 1.
Office history
Hawks was first elected to the commission on August 5, 2010 1. He serves on the Health, Education and Economic Development Committee; the Public Safety Committee; and the Fiber Research Committee 1.
Family
Hawks and his wife, Katana Wiley Hawks, whom he met at UT Martin, have been married 53 years and have two children and a granddaughter 1.
