Cheryl Storey is the Republican Washington County Clerk, having won the office in the 2022 Republican primary, succeeding retiring three-term clerk Kathy Storey, per Johnson City Press 1. She is the Republican candidate for Washington County Clerk in the county general election on August 6, 2026.
Career
The County Clerk's office operates from two locations, in Jonesborough and Johnson City 2. In July 2023, Storey joined Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy and county commissioners to open a new self-service vehicle-registration renewal kiosk at the Johnson City office, according to a Washington County government announcement 3. The kiosk allows walk-up renewals days, nights, weekends, and holidays by debit or credit card, though it does not dispense license plates or process address changes 3.
