Knox Vanderpool is an Independent candidate for Giles County Executive on the August 6, 2026 county general ballot 24. He currently serves as Chairman of the Giles County Board of Education, representing District 7 3. His campaign emphasizes "fiscal responsibility with the least amount of financial burden" placed on citizens, and promises to address county infrastructure and planning needs 1.
Background and education
Vanderpool was born and raised in the Crescentview area of Giles County and, by his account, was raised by a single father with support from his grandparents and community 1. He graduated from Giles County High School in 1996, attended Phillips Exeter Academy as a post-graduate student athlete, walked on as a student athlete at Vanderbilt University, and earned a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from the University of the South (Sewanee) 1.
Career
Vanderpool coached at Western Oregon University in 2002 and taught and coached at Richland High School in 2003 1. He founded the SAYiWON'T brand about 24 years ago and opened the SAYiWON'T facility in 2017, describing the brand as diversified across multiple ventures 1. He has coached youth soccer, baseball, football, wrestling and gymnastics 1.
Office history
Vanderpool was elected to the Giles County School Board in 2018 and has served as Board Chairman since fall 2020 13. He served as the construction point of contact on three major school building renovation projects and worked on teacher salary schedule reforms with school and county leadership 1.
Family
Vanderpool has been married to Brooke Jett Vanderpool, of Lynnville, for 23 years; they have three children who attend local schools 1.
