Jeanice McCord is a Democratic candidate for the Rutherford County Schools board in Zone 1 on the August 6, 2026 general-election ballot 12. She faces Republican Chuck Isbell and independent Sumatra Drayton in the general election 2. On her campaign site she describes herself as "A mom at the table. Not a politician on a pedestal" and says she is running "to listen, lead with integrity, and help protect the future of public education in Rutherford County" 1. Her stated platform includes intellectual freedom ("Education should open minds- not close them," opposing book bans), school safety so "students feel safe, supported, and free to learn without fear," support for educators as "the backbone of our schools," and inclusive, fully funded public schools 1.
