Dewayne Baird

Dewayne Baird

Office history

Current office and 2026 campaign

Dewayne Baird is the incumbent Campbell County Commissioner for District 3, one of five candidates running for the three District 3 seats in the August 6, 2026 county general election, alongside fellow incumbents Lawrence "Rusty" Orick and Scott Stanfield (both running as independents) and challengers Jason Shetterly and Anthony D. Terry 1. Of Campbell County's sitting commissioners, Baird is the only incumbent to seek reelection under a party label — as a Republican — rather than as an independent; eight other incumbents picked up petitions to run as independents, bypassing the county's newly partisan primaries 1.

Career

As a sitting commissioner, Baird took part in an October 2025 commission discussion of an airport improvement project, seeking clarification that the county would pay contractor PGA Inc. directly for work already completed 2.
