David Miller is a Democratic candidate for the Tennessee State Senate District 5, which represents Anderson and Loudon Counties and part of Knox County. He is competing in the August 6, 2026 Democratic primary for the seat being vacated by retiring Republican Senate Speaker Randy McNally.
Miller's campaign priorities are affordability, public education, healthcare access, and responsive representation for families in Anderson, Loudon, and Knox Counties.
Miller is a retired educator with more than 35 years in education, public service, and community leadership. He has taught in public schools, correctional facilities, and a drug-abuse prevention center. He created hands-on vocational and drug education programs, served as chair of a Special Education Department, and taught English as a Second Language. He currently serves on the Anderson County School Board, representing District 8 (term through August 2028).
