James "Jimbo" Adkins is the Tipton County Commissioner for District 6 and serves as chairman of the county commission's Public Works Committee1. He was a candidate for reelection to that seat in 2026 and won the May 5, 2026 Republican primary over challenger Michelle Smith, 221 votes to 156 (57.70% to 40.73%), becoming the Republican nominee for the seat in the August 6, 2026 Tipton County general election23.
Career
Adkins previously won reelection to the District 6 seat in the 2022 Tipton County general election, when he and fellow incumbent Michelle Smith both defeated challenger Caleb Holt4.
