Jeff Cassidy is the Republican Party nominee for Sullivan County Sheriff in the August 6, 2026 county general election, seeking a third term against independent candidate Jamie C. Free 14. Cassidy formally launched his re-election campaign on October 28, 2025, in Bristol 1.

Office history

Cassidy was first elected sheriff in 2018, defeating longtime incumbent Sheriff Wayne Anderson, and was re-elected in 2022 31.

Legislative record and accomplishments

Cassidy has cited among his administration's accomplishments the construction of a new county jail, the placement of school resource officers (SROs) in county schools, the sheriff's office investigation of the Megan Boswell murder case, upgrades to the department's technology, and a reduction in unserved process 12. He has described the new jail as including classroom space in each housing pod to support educational and vocational programs, and has pointed to partnerships with nonprofits including Families Free and Sullivan County Anti-Drug aimed at inmate rehabilitation and reentry 1.
