Ardis Ferguson won the Republican primary for Wilson County Commission District 11 on May 5, 2026, defeating former commissioner Dan Walker, 419-200 12. He advances to the August 6, 2026 general election, where he is expected to face Democrat Courtney Nyange, the sole Democratic candidate to qualify for the district 3.
Background and education
Ferguson is a retired U.S. Army colonel with 36 years of military service. He holds a degree in finance and business economics and a master's degree in strategic studies 1.
Career
During his military career, Ferguson managed brigade-level organizations, oversaw international operations, and managed substantial budgets and government property 1. He and his wife relocated to Wilson County, which his campaign announcement says they chose for its "strong values, welcoming neighborhoods and the sense of community" 1. He has served on the Del Webb Lake Providence Board of Directors, including a year as president, and currently sits on its finance committee 1.
