Background and education

Hammond grew up in East Tennessee, attending Johnson City and Unicoi County schools, graduated from Unicoi County High School, attended East Tennessee State University, and graduated from the Gemological Institute of America 1.

Career

Hammond operates Hammond Management, a commercial and apartment rental company, and works as a realtor, auctioneer and farmer. He is involved with the Washington County Cattlemen's Association, the Washington County Agriculture Committee, and the Washington County/UT Extension Agriculture Advisory Board, and is a former Farm Credit advisor 1.

Office history

Hammond was first elected to the board in 2010 and was serving his third term as of his most recent campaign 1.

Legislative record and accomplishments

Hammond says he has worked with fellow board members and the district director to retain teachers, administrators and staff amid teacher-retention pressures facing the school system 1.

Family

Hammond's two children, Jack and Lilly, attend Boones Creek Elementary and Daniel Boone High School, both in the district he represents 1.
