Tim Lanier is running as a Democrat in the August 6, 2026 primary for Tennessee's 4th Congressional District. He is one of several Democrats competing in the primary for the seat currently held by Republican Scott DesJarlais. Lanier is based in Nashville, with a campaign office in Murfreesboro.
Lanier has pledged not to accept corporate campaign donations. His campaign focuses on the rising costs of housing, groceries, and healthcare that he argues have outpaced wages; funding public education and increasing teacher pay; expanding infrastructure including roads, broadband, and water systems; and ensuring that the voices of communities of color and women are represented.
