Diana Pike Lovell is the incumbent Cheatham County commissioner for District 5, which covers the Pegram area, and is running for re-election as an independent candidate on the August 6, 2026 county-general ballot. District 5 is a "Vote For TWO" contest that also includes Republicans Eugene Evans Sr. (incumbent) and Jody Vann 12.
Legislative record and accomplishments
As a commissioner, Pike Lovell introduced a proposal to add two school resource officers and one narcotics officer for the county, and she cast a dissenting vote on a rural development amendment considered by the commission 32.
Documented disputes and controversies
In May 2022, county residents Dylan and Krystle James filed an ethics complaint against Pike Lovell alleging "dereliction of duty; applying bias in upholding the law" and "malicious interference in the business of Magnolia Farms Development," claiming she used "her elected position to influence the opinions of other county officials in the selective enforcement of codes/ordinance violations." The Cheatham County Ethics Committee dismissed all charges, finding no basis for an ethics violation. Pike Lovell said afterward: "My family and I are very pleased with the verdict. We are glad this chapter is over" 4.
