Experience Counts Lisa Arnold has over 33 years’ experience in the Criminal and General Sessions Court Clerk offices. She began working in General Sessions at age 15 during the summer. After high school graduation, Lisa went to work full time at the General Sessions Clerk’s office. She attended State Tech at night and on weekends and earned her Computer Operations degree. Lisa worked in both the Criminal and Civil divisions of General Sessions Court and in the Criminal Court Clerk’s office. She held a variety of positions during her 33 years serving Shelby County citizens:

Customer Service Supervisor

Grand Jury Supervisor

Collections Supervisor

Finance Coordinator

Manager of Finance

Lisa served in top positions under both Democrat and Republican clerks. She served in key posts under Clerk Minerva Johnican and was the only Republican to serve in an appointed position under Clerk Edward Stanton when she managed the Finance Department at General Sessions Court. Lisa implemented the Garnishment and Bankruptcy departments to collect unpaid court costs and fines. She trained employees to use important software programs.

Lisa understands General Sessions Court is the initial court stop for criminal defendants after arrest. Training employees to collect and record accurate information on criminals is a critical first step to ensuring justice is served.

In addition to earning her Computer Operations degree from State Tech, Lisa obtained her paralegal certification from Christian Brothers. She participated in the County Officials Training Certificate program at the University of Tennessee. Lisa is also a certified EMT.

Lisa is a two-time breast cancer survivor. She is now cancer free. A member of Christ Church Bartlett, Lisa is involved in numerous community organizations
