Van Malone is a sitting Humphreys County Commissioner for the 2nd District who is seeking re-election as an independent candidate in the August 6, 2026 county general election.12 District 2 is a "Vote for Two" contest; on the official Humphreys County sample ballot Malone is listed as an "Independent Candidate" alongside fellow independents Kathie McClanahan and Kenneth Dawyne Pirtle and Republican Party nominee Raven Roulette.2
