Connor D. McDonald is a sitting Smith County Commissioner for District 7 and is seeking re-election as a Republican on the August 6, 2026 county general ballot 12. District 7's three Republican incumbents - McDonald, Tommy Bane and Junior Fields - were the only candidates who qualified for the district's three seats 1.
Office history
McDonald serves on the Smith County Commission representing District 7 2. In November 2024 he served as the point of contact for District 7 residents during an episode of discolored tap water, explaining that the problem stemmed from sediment stirred up by hydrant checks and that the Smith Utility District planned an aggressive line flush in December; he told residents, "The Utility District will provide more information about the December flush as the date approaches, so please stay tuned so you can be prepared" 3.
