Robbie McCready is the incumbent mayor of Henderson County, Tennessee, and is seeking a second term in the August 6, 2026 county general election 13. He won the May 5, 2026 Republican primary for county mayor with about 38.7 percent of the vote, defeating four challengers 2. As county mayor he is responsible for delivering county services, overseeing county departments, and serving as the county's chief liaison with outside agencies 1.
Background and education
According to his campaign, McCready grew up west of Lexington, attended Westover Elementary and Lexington High School, and graduated summa cum laude from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice 4.
Career
McCready enlisted on active duty in the U.S. Army in 2003 and served with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and the 160th Special Operations Command (Airborne), completing two combat tours in Iraq; after leaving active duty in 2010 he continued in the Army Reserve as a senior instructor 4. In November 2010 he joined the City of Lexington Police Department, where he worked in patrol, community policing, and investigations 4. He was first elected Henderson County mayor in 2022 24.
