Brent Michael Caldwell ran as a Democrat in the 2026 primary for North Carolina's 14th Congressional District. He lost the March 3, 2026 Democratic primary to Lakesha Womack.

Caldwell's platform focused on lowering costs for families, protecting democratic institutions, and ending tax breaks for corporate outsourcing. He also supported expanding rural broadband access and making childcare more affordable.

Background and education

Caldwell earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and public policy from the University of Mississippi, a master's degree in political sociology from the London School of Economics, and a J.D. from Duke University School of Law.

Career

Before entering law, Caldwell worked in professional politics as a campaign aide and union organizer. He served as a judicial law clerk on the North Carolina Business Court and subsequently practiced commercial real estate finance law in Charlotte.
