Dale was appointed to the District 1 seat by the county commission in late 2024 to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Lee Richards on September 9, 2024 1. He was nominated by Commissioner Cindy Robbins on the recommendation of Richards and received 8 of the 14 votes present, prevailing over fellow applicants Michael Matthews and Bobby Wayne Huckeby 1.
