{"biography":"Sarah Randall Crawford is the incumbent Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for District\u202f66 and is seeking re\u2011election in the November\u202f3,\u202f2026 general election.  Members of the North Carolina House serve two\u2011year terms, are part of a 120\u2011member lower chamber, and are responsible for introducing, debating, and voting on state legislation, as well as serving on committees that shape policy areas such as appropriations, health, and utilities\u301016\u2020L1-L8\u3011.\n\nCrawford was born in 1980 or 1981 and grew up in eastern Wake County, the daughter of a public\u2011school teacher and a state employee.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from North Carolina State University in 2003\u30107\u2020L31-L33\u3011.  After college she entered the nonprofit sector, working from 2011\u20112015 as Director of Development and Public Relations for the Tammy Lynn Center, a service provider for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  She later became the national director of partnerships and programs for Single Stop USA, a nonprofit that connects low\u2011income families to public benefits.  In 2020 she returned to the Tammy Lynn Center as its chief executive officer, a role she continues to hold while serving in the legislature\u30107\u2020L45-L49\u3011\u301018\u2020L1-L4\u3011.\n\nCrawford\u2019s elected career began in the North Carolina Senate, where she represented the 18th district from January\u202f1,\u202f2021 until January\u202f1,\u202f2023\u30107\u2020L13-L16\u3011.  In the 2022 election she won a newly created House seat (District\u202f66) and was sworn in on January\u202f1,\u202f2023\u30101\u2020L1-L3\u3011\u30107\u2020L13-L15\u3011.  She was re\u2011elected in 2024 with 74.9% of the vote\u30101\u2020L45-L48\u3011 and is now running unopposed in the 2026 Democratic primary, which was cancelled, advancing her to the November general ballot\u30101\u2020L19-L22\u3011.\n\nDuring the 2023\u20112024 session Crawford served on the Appropriations Committee, the Appropriations on Capital Committee, the Energy and Public Utilities Committee, the Families, Children, and Aging Policy Committee, and the Health Committee\u30101\u2020L9-L14\u3011.  In the prior 2021\u20112022 session she sat on the Appropriations on General Government and Information Technology Committee, the Health Care Committee, and the Senate State and Local Government Committee\u30101\u2020L15-L18\u3011.  Her legislative priorities have included expanding health\u2011care access, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, and promoting economic justice.  She has introduced bills for paid parental leave, free tax\u2011return assistance programs, and veteran tax credits, and has worked bipartisan to protect services for people with disabilities\u301018\u2020L5-L9\u3011.\n\nCrawford\u2019s community involvement extends beyond the legislature.  She serves on the Ministry Leadership Team at her church, is a board advisor for the North Carolina State University School of Public and International Affairs, and previously sat on the board of a nonprofit serving victims of domestic violence\u301016\u2020L9-L12\u3011.
