Warren Todd Daniel is the incumbent Republican State Senator for North Carolina’s 46th District and is on the ballot for re‑election in the November 3, 2026 general election. North Carolina senators serve two‑year terms, must be at least 25 years old, a qualified voter, have lived in the state for two years and in the district for one year before election, and earn a salary of $13,951 per year with a $104 per‑diem allowance [2].

Daniel was born in Burke County, North Carolina, and graduated from Freedom High School in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Science in National Security and Public Affairs from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1991, where he also received the Eagle Scout award [12][13]. After commissioning as a second lieutenant in the Army Field Artillery, he served six years on active duty and later in the Army Reserve, including a stint as an ROTC assistant professor [12][13]. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, graduating with honors and a J.D. in 2000 [1][13].

Following law school, Daniel returned to Morganton to practice law with his father at the Daniel Law Firm, a practice he has maintained since 2000 and for which he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court [1][13]. He is married to Lydia Furr and they have three daughters [13].

Daniel first entered the North Carolina Senate in 2011, representing the 44th District until redistricting moved him to the 46th District in 2013, a seat he has held continuously (the Senate biography lists eight terms) [10][5][7]. He has served on a wide range of committees, most recently chairing the Appropriations Committee on Justice and Public Safety, the Judiciary Committee, and the Elections Committee, and serving as vice‑chair of the Rules and Operations of the Senate Committee [13][1]. Earlier sessions show his leadership on Finance, Redistricting, Transportation, and other key committees [1].

During the 2025‑2026 session Daniel introduced numerous bills, including SB 18 (local act), SB 50 (Freedom to Carry NC), SB 227 (eliminating DEI in public education), and SB 109 (Veterans Appreciation Act), reflecting his focus on public safety, veterans’ issues, and education policy [6]. His campaign issues emphasize job creation through limited government regulation, fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets, voter‑ID protections, pro‑life legislation, Second Amendment rights, education reform, and stricter immigration enforcement [14].

Daniel’s long‑standing service, military background, legal career, and committee leadership position him as a senior figure in the North Carolina General Assembly, and he is seeking another term to continue representing the counties of Burke, McDowell and the eastern half of Buncombe under the new district map [12][15].

## Sources
- [1] [Warren Daniel - Ballotpedia](https://ballotpedia.org/Warren_Daniel)
- [2] [North Carolina State Senate District 46 - Ballotpedia](https://ballotpedia.org/North_Carolina_State_Senate_District_46)
- [4] [John Ager - Ballotpedia](https://ballotpedia.org/John_Ager)
- [5] [Senator Warren Daniel - Biography - North Carolina General Assembly](https://www.ncleg.gov/Members/Biography/s/295)
- [6] [Senator Warren Daniel's Introduced Bills - North Carolina General Assembly](https://www.ncleg.gov/Members/IntroducedBills/s/295)
- [7] [Senator Warren Daniel - Biography - North Carolina General Assembly](https://www.ncleg.gov/Members/Biography/S/295)
- [10] [Warren Daniel - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Daniel)
- [12] [Bio — Warren Daniel](https://www.danielforsenate.com/bio)
- [13] [Warren Daniel's Biography](https://justfacts.votesmart.org/candidate/biography/117792/warren-daniel)
- [14] [Issues — Warren Daniel](https://www.danielforsenate.com/issues)
- [15] [Warren Daniel](https://www.danielforsenate.com/)
- [16] [Vote Smart | Facts For All](https://justfacts.votesmart.org/candidate/117792/warren-daniel)
- [19] [State Senator Warren Daniel | BillTrack50](https://www.billtrack50.com/legislatordetail/6440)
- [20] [North Carolina State Sen.
