Christopher West Brooks, known as Chris Brooks, is a District Court Judge for Judicial District 10F, Seat 1, in Wake County, North Carolina. He was appointed to the seat by Governor Josh Stein on March 5, 2025, replacing Judge Jennifer Bedford. His current term ends December 7, 2026.
Brooks is a native of the Apex and Cary area of Wake County. He graduated from Apex High School and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his law degree from Campbell University School of Law.
Brooks has served in the Transportation Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice since 2006. He previously served in the Department's Criminal Division. Prior to his appointment to the bench, his career at the DOJ spanned nearly two decades of state government legal service.
