Current office and 2026 campaign

Komos is not currently a Wilson County commissioner; the sitting District 13 commissioner is Republican Jeremy Hobbs ⁶. Komos is running as the Democratic candidate for the District 13 seat on the Wilson County Board of Commissioners in the county general election on August 6, 2026, in a field that also includes independent candidate Luke Mires ⁴⁵.

His campaign, under the slogan "Common Sense. Common Ground.," describes its priorities as transparency, fiscal responsibility, and stronger schools, along with public safety funding and general accountability in county government ¹. On transparency, the campaign calls for "clear, easy to read meeting agendas" and for "every single committee and commission meeting recorded and live broadcast" ¹. On budgeting, it calls for "smart zero-base budgeting that resets year after year to eliminate wasteful spending" ¹. On schools, it says the county should "build to accommodate the inevitable growth, not pretend it will not happen" ¹.

Komos has criticized the sitting 25-member commission, saying "This will not, and has not happened with 25 like-minded commissioners who consistently shut out opinions which make them uncomfortable," and argues "County politics should not be partisan. County Commission is about solving local problems, not debating national culture wars" ¹. His campaign's Facebook page carries the tagline "Not the Good 'Ol Boys Club" ³. His campaign committee treasurer is listed as Christopher Brum-Taylor ¹.

On his campaign's "Meet Geordan" page, he describes himself as "a proud resident of Wilson County and a dedicated family man" and states: "Raising my family here, I have seen firsthand how reactive planning has failed our roads, schools, and infrastructure" ².
